Peter and Cara O’Brien are the co-owners of High Mountain Cuisine, one of Northern New Mexico’s premier boutique catering companies, known for creating exceptional culinary experiences for luxury weddings, corporate events, nonprofit galas, private celebrations, and destination retreats throughout the Southwest.

Together, they bring more than six decades of combined hospitality and culinary leadership. Chef Peter O’Brien has spent over 35 years leading award-winning kitchens at renowned restaurants, luxury resorts, and private clubs across Texas, Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico, creating refined, ingredient-driven cuisine inspired by the flavors of the Southwest and global culinary traditions. Throughout his career, he has prepared memorable dining experiences for distinguished guests including President George W. Bush, Lady Bird Johnson, Michael Dell, Walter Cronkite, James Baker, Tommy Lee Jones, Robert Redford, and Susan Graham.

Cara O’Brien oversees the company’s operations, event planning, and client experience. With nearly 30 years of hospitality leadership, she has managed luxury events ranging from intimate private dinners to large-scale corporate gatherings and nonprofit galas. Before joining High Mountain Cuisine full time in 2022, Cara spent nearly 13 years with the Museum of New Mexico Foundation, directing many of its premier donor events and cultivating relationships throughout Santa Fe’s arts and cultural communities.
