Executive Chef, Joe's Tequila Bar
Chef Roberto Menjivar was born and raised in El Salvador and then moved to Unite States in 1999 when he was only 16 years old. He is father of four, two sons and two daughters, he is the role model to his children and they also want to become a great chef like him, especially his younger son Bryan Menjivar, he has passions to cook and currently working with him as a prep and line cook and his younger daughter told him that she wants to go to college to become a chef like her dad.
Chef Roberto Menjivar started working in the Kitchen as a dish washer but later he found out how much he loved cooking and started to learn new techniques from other chefs that he worked for, but he is more of a self-taught cook. Over the past, he worked with so many different chefs in town, he learnt and gained lots of experiences on all different types of cuisines, such as Italian, Mexican and New Mexican etc.
In 2015 with the guidance and support from Chef Walter Dominguez and General Manager Corey Fidler, he became the Sous Chef at Hotel Santa Fe Amaya Restaurant. He also worked in the Banquet Department for several months on different events as small as 20 and up to 800 people, off-site caterings to the Opera, Wine and Chile Festivals and various weddings.
In 2021, he joined Joe’s Tequila Bar at the Inn on the Alameda where he helped with a new concept by introducing Central American Dishes to the Menu.
From his previous supervisors, he learnt that it is very important to give opportunities to others and he himself is a true believer in giving chances to those who love to become a cook even though they have no experience, he always teaches new cooks.
Chef Roberto Menjivar is also a mechanic and loves to work on cars, loves to sing and play guitar on his leisure times, he is also family man and enjoys spending his times with family.
