DIRECTOR OF SALES, MORGAN WINERY
Starting out his career on the buyer side Jonathan Apt was a young food and beverage director in Scottsdale AZ. Being exposed to extensive international wine lists it was clear that his true passion working for 5 Star resorts and hotels was wine. Showing an affinity for managing people and especially award-winning wine lists the hotel industry moved him around the country to lend his talent to some of the top food and beverage cities in the U.S.
Realizing his true passion and wanting to grow his education in the wine industry the next logical step was to understand the workings of distribution. Working for one of the largest distributors in the country gave him education and opportunity to grow his wine knowledge not only for domestic wines but for all the regions of the world. Managing an import portfolio gave Jonathan true appreciation for the differences that all appellations have to offer.
Working toward the ultimate goal of managing the sales efforts of a premier California Winery Jonathan left the distribution side and went to work for some smaller individual wineries and eventually managing the western United States for the prestigious wine sales and marketing firm, The San Francisco Wine Exchange. Here Jonathan was exposed to managing brands from around the globe as well as incredible boutique wineries from the different appellations in the US.
In 2014 Jonathan found the home in the wine industry that he had been long looking for. A family-owned premier producer from one of the most sought-after appellations in the country, MORGAN. Being able to share and educate the wine community about the special place that Santa Lucia Highlands is and especially about its crown jewel, the Double L Vineyard, and MORGAN WINERY is not work but just pure enjoyment.
