Edward is the owner of Seco Spice Ltd., Co, a wholesale Chile/vegetable company in Berino and Artesia, New Mexico. Seco Spice Co. was established in 1996 by owner Edward and Julie Ogaz. Edward has been a member of the N.M. Chile Association and its predecessor, the N.M. Chile Task Force for the past 20 years. Each was born and raised in the Hatch Valley and come from farming families. Since the turn of the 19^th century when the Ogaz family came to the Hatch Valley, Chile farming has become a mainstay and a tradition for the family. Today, the Ogaz children, grandchildren ad great grandchildren continue to over a century’s – old tradition, and have gone on to expand the family business from simple traditional farming. Seco now processes, mills, and custom blends Chile peppers. With the addition of extensive food safety protocols that include SQF certification and in-house steam sterilization, Seco Spice has become one of the largest New Mexico Wholesalers of organic and non-organic chiles and spices to many of the finest brands and retailers in the southwest.
