Guest Chef Luncheon & Sommelier Throwdown

Set at the iconic La Fonda on the Plaza, the Throwdown Luncheon is one of the most anticipated culinary events of the Fiesta. This high-energy afternoon brings together a standout lineup of chefs, each presenting a signature dish that reflects their personal style, creativity, and bold approach to flavor. Featured chefs include Fernando Ruiz of Escondido, Josh Gerwin of Dr. Field Goods, Hue-Chan Karels, and Erica Tai of Alkemē, and Jessica Brewer of The Anasazi Restaurant & Bar.

In a playful and unexpected twist, each course is paired with two wines—one selected by the chef and the other by one of our distinguished sommeliers: Tim Gaiser, Joe Spellman or Kristina Bustamante. The pairings remain a mystery until revealed live during the experience.

As each course unfolds, guests are invited to vote for their favorite pairings, turning the luncheon into an interactive, spirited tasting experience filled with discovery, friendly competition, and lively table conversation.
